Bilateral Talocalcaneal and Talocalcaneocentral Luxation after a Road Traffic Accident in a Dog

Abstract A 4-year-old, 25 kg, male, castrated, crossbreed dog was referred after having been driven over by a trailer 3 days prior. On examination, the unable to ambulate on pelvic limbs. There crepitus, soft tissue swelling and pain manipulation of tarsi, with bilateral rotational suspected mild lateral instability. Radiographs identified talocalcaneal luxation dorsal displacement head talus avulsion fracture malleolus. dorsomedial approach tarsocrural joint performed bilaterally reduced. 3.5 mm positional cortical screw placed both sides from plantarolateral distal calcaneus. temporary calcaneotibial also applied bilaterally. No complications were encountered apart bandage-related dermatitis, made complete recovery. lameness subjective gait assessment at 14 weeks 12 months postoperatively; however, mild-to-moderate osteoarthritis affecting talocalcaneocentral centrodistal joints postoperatively.
